WALK NOTES

A nice start and finish to the walk on a lovely sunny day. The only disappointment was when we arrived on the summit of Pillar and the clouds were all around us giving no views. We started walking from Wasdale Head to Beck Head before ascending up Kirk Fell. The views were very good from Kirk Fell summit. There were very few walkers on the fells today. Met up with a lady walker on the summit who had come straight up Highnose Head from Wasdale. Then it was a scramble down to Black Sail Pass. The walk to Pillar was an easy one but as already mentioned the cloud came down and visability was almost zero. Decided to miss Scoat Fell on the descent. Mark mentioned how precarious the cairn was to the edge on Red Pike (you could not get a photo looking back from there unless you could fly). The descent continued down to Dore Head and then back to Overbeck Bridge and onwards to Wasdale Head. Great views looking over Wastwater to Scafell Pike.
