WALK NOTES

This was a great walk as I did not have time to complete this one when I was in Wasdale recently. I walked from Overbeck bridge car park and up towards Dropping Crag. Then it was a scramble all the way to the top. It was certainly challenging at times. Although it was cloudy the clouds had lifted off Yewbarrow and were slowly lifting off the other peaks. It was hazy though and this meant light conditions were not too good. The views at Great Door were excellent. The top of Yewbarrow was quite undulating and the ground was somewhat boggy in places. Good views all round from the summit to the Scafells, Great Gable, Kirk Fell, Pillar, Red Pike and Middle Fell. The descent was by way of Stirrup Crag down to Dore Head. A couple of tricky moments on the descent - down a slab drop and round a protruding rock. All in all it was a brilliant day.
