- Sheepwash Car Park Carsington Reservoir.
Today
started of quite sunny and dry but turned
out to be quite a winters day. From the
Sheepwash Car Park at Carsington Reservoir
I walked through the woods alongside
the reservoir and saw many birds including
Great Tit, Blue Tit, Coal Tit, Long Tailed
Tit, Nuthatch, Goldfinch, Siskin, Robin,
Kestrel, as well as many ducks and geese.
Then I crossed the B5035 to the village
of Carsington. As I left the village
and started to cross Carsington Pastures
thats when it started to sleet and then
hail and eventually snow. It was almost
a white out as I could not see where
I was heading for. During the rest of
the walk it snowed for much of the time
but there were brief intervals of sun.
Arrived in Brassington eventually and
then carried on to the High Peak Trail
and Harborough Rocks. There as a group
of children visiting the area at the
same time. Took a few wintery photographs
at the summit before viewing a cave at
the base of the rocks. Returned to Carsington
via the Pastures where there were good
views to the reservoir.
