WALK NOTES

Rey Viewpoint - Upper Green - Lower Green - Royledge - Under The Hill - Upper Elkstone - Herbage - Merryton Low - Morridge - Rey Viewpoint

A lovely walk on the Western edge of the Peak District. Morridge (moor ridge) is a long arm of high ground extending south from Axe Edge. The walk starts from a layby at the Paul Rey (1925-1977) Memorial (or Viewpoint). The happy inscription to this man of Hanley reads "A rambler and world traveller who inspired so many with his love of the countryside". Merryton Low is the highest point on Morridge at 1,604 feet. Although the road is not far away there are excellent views from its top. Superb views are also gained at the trig point on Royledge. An enjoyable walk with a mixture of scenery.
