A very early start. Arrived in Askrigg in Wensleydale to check in at 7.00am. After a heavy shower an hour or so before the walk the day turned out to be a lovely sunny one. It was very muddy in places throughout the walk and I encountered my first snow of the season on the high moors on Stake Fell. Semer Water had burst its banks and the car park which I passed near Semer Water Bridge had disappeared!! The River Ure at Aysgarth Falls was certainly in spate. The last leg of the walk from Castle Bolton back to Askrigg was surprisingly long for many walkers.
