It had been a nice day so I decided on an evening walk from where we were staying on holiday to the lovely Bamburgh with it's famous castle. I had worked out a rough route using a route I had read from a local guide and an Ordnance Survey Map (340 - Holy Island & Bamburgh).

The path through the woods from near Waren Mill towards Drawkiln Hill (Coast Path) was quite steep and slippy in places. There were quite a few fields to cross to Bamburgh but the views were fantastic. As I neared Bamburgh I came across signs for Bulls in the next field. I crossed the field carefully but saw no Bulls.

I then followed the B1342 into Bamburgh as the sun disappeard behind the clouds for awhile. The route I then took around the castle was quite dramatic and followed many paths through the dunes. Returning to the village I took the road/path towards the Golf Club. As I arrived at the second car park along the road I crossed the car park and on to the beach.

The next section of the route was to walk along the beach and rocks around Harkess Rocks and the white painted lighthouse. The views back to Bamburgh Castle and the lighthouse were fantastic. I returned back to Waren Mill via the Golf Club and Budle Point. This was a really enjoyable walk.
