WALK NOTES

Snelston Village - Calwich Abbey - Ellastone - Limestone Way - Swinscoe - Okeover Park - Mappleton - Tissington Trail - Ashbourne

On an exceptional dry sunny day in mid February I completed a linear walk starting in Snelston (south west of Ashbourne) and visiting Calwich Abbey, Ellastone, Okeover and Mappleon. My walk also followed some of the length of the Limestone Way and the Tissington Trail. One of the main aims of the day was to visit Snelston and Calwich to see the wonderful views of Snowdrops. The path between Ellastone and Swinscoe along the Limestone Way was muddy in places. This part of the Limestone Way is also not very well sign posted so a map of the area is quite useful. The views of Okeover Hall while walkng through Okeover Park are absolutely lovely.
