Mappleton Lane Car Park (Tissington Trail) - Mappleton Lane Car Park (Tissington Trail)

Another walk from one of our well known OFC members – Mr Mark Richards. The walk is one of a collection in the White Peak Walks (The Southern Dales) book. I followed the walk pretty much to as Mark describes although I took the detour up Thorpe Cloud. An excellent walk on a reasonably sunny day. The path along the River Dove was quite muddy in places and the river level was very high. The route followed the Thorpe Cloud side of the valley. There were several places where I had to walk on the scree slopes as the river had covered the path. The famous stepping stones were also mainly submerged (so there was no chance of crossing the river for anyone).
