NOTES
|
Mungrisedale
- Souther Fell - Mousthwaite Comb - Scales Tarn -
Scales Fell - Blencathra (Halls Fell) - Atkinson
Pike - Mungrisedale Common - Bannerdale Crags - Bowscale
Fell - Raven Crag - Mungrisedale
On
a lovely sunny start to the day I set off from Mungrisedale
for
Souther Fell. The ascent is quite steep but there
are great views from the summit. I then descended
to Mousethwaite Comb and followed the River Glenderamackin
and then Scales Beck to Scales Tarn. As I had already
climbed Sharp Edge on a previous walk I decided
to climb the slopes of Scales Fell to reach the summit
of Blencathra (Halls Fell). I then walked along
the
top to Atkinson Pike and then down across boggy
ground to Mungrisedale Common (in the middle of nowhere).
Next I crossed boggy ground again to eventually
pick
up a path to Bannerdale Crags. Great views to Blencathra
from here. My last Wainwright Fell of the day was
Bowscale Fell. I took a short detour to see Bowscale
Tarn before heading down the ridge to Raven Crags
and Mungrisedale. The final descent from Raven
Crags was very steep indeed. |
