Ashford in the Water - Churchdale Hall - Monsal Trail - Monsal Head - River Wye - White Lodge - Taddington Field - Sheldon - Little Shacklow Wood - Ashford in the Water

Back to the Peak District for a lovely walk from Ashford in the Water near Bakewell. This circular walk passes Churchdale Hall before taking the Monsal Trail to Little Longstone. Then its onwards to Monsal Head (fantastic views of the Wye valley) before desending steeply to the weir on the River Wye. It was lovely and sunny up to this point but as we neared White Lodge it started to rain. Our route took us to Taddington Field and across Deep Dale before arriving in Sheldon. Good views of Magpie Mine in the distance. At this point it stopped raining. We descended back to the River Wye and Ashford in the Water via Little Shacklow Wood which was incredibly muddy and slippery underfoot (not enjoyable at all!!). The sun was out once more as we got back to our cars. Overall it was an enjoyable day out.
